We stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement across the world. We at Ubooker deeply believe in and promote diversity and inclusion. We do not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind and we call on the fashion industry to create a better workplace for all.

MODELLING AGENCIES:

Before sending any of your black models to set, ensure the hair/makeup team are properly trained to style black hair and beauty. We will be doing this. clients and casting directors: Diversity is NOT tokenism. Booking a black model that is the 'acceptable' black look is NOT inclusion.

HAIR STYLISTS:

If you will be working with a black model and you don't know how to do black hair, don't take the job. re-direct the client to a black hair stylist.

MAKEUP ARTISTS:

If you do not have a variety of foundation shades for black models, invest in them NOW.

PRODUCTION & CREATIVE TEAMS:

Ask who is on set with you. If the team is all or mostly white, ask how they are representing diversity and inclusion set. Ask whether there are black designers and brands whose pieces are being featured in the shoot.

SHARE OPPORTUNITIES:

When you get approached for a booking, suggest a black colleague for the job opportunity instead.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

We encourage our models to share any discrimination they experience or witness at work with us so that we can give feedback to the client on why their actions are offensive and explain that this must stop or we will cut ties with them.
