Breast Cancer Awareness Month
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Mothers, sisters, daughters, friends: someone you know will develop the disease. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month for this reason. Breast cancer is the deadliest form of cancer in women. It is also the most common cancer diagnosis. To know it is to prepare for the inevitable impact it will have on your life.
Ubooker stands in support of spreading the awareness of this prolific disease. For the upcoming month of November, we will pledge 1% of all our commission fees to the funding of breast cancer research. We mean what we say. Thank you for your support.
Know the Signs
Beating breast cancer starts with catching it in the beginning of its development. Become very familiar with your breasts and the area surrounding them. Breast examinations use the Touch Look Check system or TLC for short.
Touch your breasts: can you feel anything unusual?
Look for changes: does anything look different?
Check any changes with your doctor as soon as you discover them.
Visit this page to see visual representation of what to look out for. And check on a regular basis!
Know the Research
The Breast Cancer Now charity has given over 230 million pounds to research projects. Their goal? To make breast cancer a survivable disease for everyone affected by 2050.
They currently fund 80 projects worth over 26 million pounds. And they aren’t alone. Charities worldwide give to fight the prognoses associated with breast cancer.
This money is furthering our understanding of breast cancer in many ways.
For example, a major complication with the disease is its ability to spread to other parts of the body.
The funds raised allow us to track the exact mechanisms for propagation in breast cancer.
To know it is to conquer it. To fund it is to discover its secrets more quickly. Want to help fight the good fight? Check their website for more information on donating to these research projects.
Know How to Help
Helping bring more attention to this grave disease is as easy as wearing pink during October.
If you want to get involved further, check local events! We would love to see our models helping campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Good resources for this information include Breast Cancer Now, BCRF, and NBCF .
Wear your pink, take to the streets, participate in charity runs and post images on social media. As a platform by women who have been personally affected by breast cancer, we support the fight. Let's spread the awareness needed to make breast cancer's survival rate 100%.
Thank you.
